An early challenge on this project was working with clients who lived overseas in China during design.  The payoff was our ability to incorporate beautiful pieces they acquired while living there.  This house was refurbished on all three floors, with principle attention given to remodeling the kitchen, creating a family room worthy of the house, forming an eating alcove, and adding a powder room and back entry coat storage.  After their return, we remodeled the third floor, turning the attic from a former renter’s apartment into an elegant owners’ suite, with a vaulted sleeping room, sitting area spacious walk-in-closet, generous bathroom, and painter’s studio.  By working with a medley of existing ridge lines and roof planes, each space feels like its resulting vaulted ceiling is exactly where it wants to be.
